"From a young age, I understood the idea of balanced flavor - the reason you put ketchup on a hamburger. I was that kid who wouldn't eat something if there was something missing. I never really understood it until I began cooking professionally, balancing acids, sweets, spicy flavors and fat."

NOTES:
- THE ENTRY IS BEST VIEWED ON A COMPUTER. IT WILL NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY OTHERWISE. It has been tested on Google Chrome, Opera, and Safari; they all work fine. It will work on mobile to an extent, but alignment will be ruined and you will not be able to click out of the pop-up boxes.
- PLEASE HOVER OVER ALL THE IMAGES. The images you will need to click on have a special hover function (which is disabled on non-clickable images).
- POP-UP BOXES CAN BE CLOSED BY CLICKING OUTSIDE OF THE BOXES. That should make the box fade out.
- STATIC VERSION IS HERE: SOUMA & TAKUMI. For those who cannot or do not want to access a computer.
- There is no actual death happening in our entry. It's just a reference to Souma's late mom.
- Credits go to favicon.cc for the favicon, Ian Lunn for the hover code, and neonbikethemes for the pop-up codes. Everything else has been originally coded by Team SouTaku.
- Thank you for looking at our entry!

the snippets told from both points of view is really interesting to compare and contrast, they really balance each other out, knowing their own strengths and weaknesses, and improving from learning from the other

We are so glad we hit the theme and that you appreciated the format that we presented it in. ;; We were a little worried about people not knowing Shokugeki, so we chose to present these boys through food and I'm so so happy to hear that it worked out for the best!

The art is so beautiful! I love the blue highlights in Takumi's hair and the gentle shading. His fingers are so long and elegant *o* And Souma's stance contrasts nicely with Takumi's - they both look so strong and confident intheir own way. I really like the shape of Takumi's legs and his knees *o* The shading is so niceee especially with the warmer tint of the shadows ahh and even the cupboards have personality <3 Takumi's kitchen sjdhnfalgjk EVERYTHING GLISTENS and it's gorgeous.
I really like how each ingredient links into the short segment, and the common format throughout. It's really nice and it makes the piece look so coherent. The writing is lovely in how it seems to get to the heart of what's there - it showcases the mutual respect and the competitive flair in their relationship.
And I love how although the themes are the same across the two characters, the way they're laid out and presented is different enough that it feels fresh each time? You know you're approaching the same topic from two different perspectives, but like the title implies they don't just mirror one another - they work with and around each other to form a complete picture. Their individual personalities come out really well!!

I'm so glad that what we were aiming for went through ;; I feared that the formatting would make the mirroring too distant between the characters, but it looks like you picked it up just fine, which is a relief. \ o /
The SouTaku artists say thank you for the compliments!! And the writers also thank you. ; v ;
